About this cause

We are the Scout Group for Sandbach which has been running since 1968. We change lives by offering 6 to 25-year-olds of Sandbach fun activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in Sandbach. We help children and young adults reach their full potential. Run by volunteers, our section leaders and parent volunteers help Beavers, Cubs and Scouts develop life skills, confidence, communication skills, caring for others and team work. We do this by having fun, taking part in new activities indoors and outdoors, learn by doing, sharing in spiritual reflection, taking responsibility and making choices by living by their Promise. We would like to ensure we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2018 and so community support is vital.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We are commmitted to inclusivity but run our scout group from the Scout Hall which is circa 100 years old and the group has been running from the building for 40 years. The age of the hall means it requires upgrading to meet modern standards. Following a recent building survey we need to upgrade the toilets and create a disabled toilet and provide a means to ensure we have disabled access to the front of the building. We would like funding to support the required works to and the purchase of a ramp to facilite wheelchair entry into the building. This will benefit the children or yound people of Sandbach who join our group who require these facilities and ensure our old building meets moden access standards.
