About this cause
We provide a fortnightly swimming session for people with a disability and those over the age of 50, as well as their family/carers. We provide activities to promote mental and physical health and the development of skills. We have hydro-rehab and fitness activities, sensory play for children, Aqua Relax, Aqua Fit, the NASCH distance badge and water skills award schemes, and Special Olympics.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Although we are a micro-charity, we are one of the largest disabled swimming groups in the country with over 200 members, and we feel the sensory play project will help bring parents and people with a disability together in a safe and caring environment. We have an annual awards presentation and Christmas meal, which is a great opportunity for our members to socialise and meet other people.
