We'd like to buy food to support individuals and families in financial crisis.
About this cause
We set up Billingham Foodbank in 2012 and we now have four centres; one in Billingham, one in Norton and two in Stockton, together with a warehouse and clothing bank. We provide food for those in need five days a week, together with advice and signposting to some 200 agencies we work with.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We're already seeing the impact of job losses on people's ability to provide food for their families. We provide food, clothing, school uniforms and then ensure we guide people to organisations who can help them through their crisis. Conversely, we see those in the local community who want to help by sponsorship, collections and volunteering days.
