About this cause
We support children and young people aged 11-25 who need support with their mental health. They may suffer from eating disorders, depression, anxiety or abuse. For 50 years, we have been providing free professional counselling and outreach, and now work with 2,000 kids a year. We aim to provide a trauma-informed, early intervention service to prevent more serious problems.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By catching problems early, we prevent a vicious circle of escalating symptoms and consequences, such as low academic attainment, school exclusion, teenage pregnancy, homelessness, crime and entrenched mental health issues. All of which can derail a life. When children feel better, they do better and this has a positive benefit for families and the wider community, too.
