About this cause

Brancepeth is a small village to the West of Durham City with a population of some 350 . Brancepeth Community Association runs the village hall. Built in 1924 and in need of constant maintenance. There are no other social venues, shops, pubs etc in the village The hall is used by all ages. Regular events are weekly coffee mornings & for some older people this is their only outing of the week, Yoga, Badminton, Art Class, Knit and Natter, Snooker Club, Flower Club, Garden Club, Archives and History Group, Village Choir, Youth Group and a range of other groups and classes that are organised from time to time. See pictures on website under Village Groups. Without the village hall there would be no social interaction here.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The emergency exit is hazardous and the cost will be £2000 to make it safe. The ladies toilet is a single and is inadequate. We plan to create two toilets and bring the area up to date. Cost £1500. Our small car park has many pot holes, so that needs to be re-surfaced, and at the same time marked out with a disabled bay. Cost £4000. Once re-furbishment is completed the hall will be fit for purpose and as the hub of all social activity here will attract all who want the interaction we can provide. It will benefit young and old.
