About this cause

Involve Kent is a charity with 40 years' experience, in serving some of the most disadvantaged, vulnerable & socially isolated people, within Kent. We develop projects through needs identified by the community providing services which aim to prevent poverty and to support healthy living for: older people who may live alone and feel isolated, people with mental health problems, those with a disability on low incomes and those living in the community with a diagnosis of cancer. We currently manage eight community projects in addition to our core services which are: a Volunteer Centre which has been awarded Quality Accreditation from Volunteering England this runs from a central location within the Town Hall and a Council for Voluntary Service which has achieved the NAVCA Quality Award.

How this cause brings people in the community together

*Elderly/disabled people on low incomes will feel less isolated/lonely, their anxiety will lift as they’re able to manage their homes/gardens supported by volunteer beneficiaries who learn new skills and feel empowered by helping others less fortunate than themselves, in a real life situation. *Volunteers in a supported environment, will clear gardens/complete decorating & DIY tasks *The work takes place in areas of high deprivation. Customers are on low incomes, elderly or disabled. Volunteers are recovering from personal difficulties in the community. *Elderly/disabled people and Volunteers who often move on to mainstream volunteering, enrol onto adult education courses or paid employment with support from a Project Coordinator & skilled handyman.
