We would like to provide up to five educational signs to help engage the visitors with the country park, so that they learn about the environment around them and help to protect it.
About this cause
The purpose of Astbury Mere Trust is to provide for the inhabitants of Congleton and district a managed and maintained country park for recreation or other leisure occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for reidents. The park receives an estimated 250,000 visits each year. National Cycle Route 573 passes through the park.
How this cause brings people in the community together
There would be a group of diverse community volunteers who would participate in the design of the signs. This would include butterfly and bird experts, local primary and secondary school children, a range of park visitors, including some with special educational needs, and a co-ordinator. The impact of the signs would be measured by visitors' experience and satisfaction surveys.
