We would buy personal safety and technical equipment for new volunteers in order to continue to provide emergency rescue assistance to members of the community using the countryside.
About this cause
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team provides a vital rescue service for the local community and many visiting tourists. The team is run entirely by local volunteers. Our primary aim is to save lives and and relieve distress in upland and mountainous areas. We are also a part of the local flood response, and support police and ambulance responses to incidents in hard-to-access areas.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project would provide vital equipment needed for the team to continue to deliver its rescue service in the local area, especially at a time of increased PPE costs. During Covid-19, many people have accessed the local countryside to maintain their physical and mental health. It is important that our team is on hand to protect them should they have an accident.
