About this cause
We are a local community junior school with 235 pupils aged 7-11. We serve a diverse community with higher than average numbers of special needs and disadvantaged children. Our aim is to help children develop into the best versions of themselves. Our family worker supports local families who are in need or where there is domestic abuse. Our site is also used by local Scout groups.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The shelter, with its seating, will provide an area for children to be together outdoors. It will also provide a safe space where children can receive support, individually or in small groups, from a mentor. This will help them discuss anxieties and process trauma such as Covid-19 isolation and domestic abuse they may have witnessed. Families will use it at community events as will Scout groups.
