About this cause
Merit is a short-stay school in Stoke-on-Trent for children with medical and mental health needs. We are also responsible for providing education at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire and offer a home tuition service. The school offers a safe, secure and nurturing environment with experienced teachers and supportive, wrap-around care for all our students. We are ambitious for every student, ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed in education. We reach out to local community groups including parents, families, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and local schools. We actively encourage learning outdoors to improve wellbeing.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We aim to improve the wellbeing of the local community by having a resource which is open for all to use for all. It can be used for fundraising events, coffee mornings, therapeutic and wellbeing activities, social events and a quiet space. This will include supporting local residents within supported living arrangements nearby.
