About this cause

Child's Vision supports children who have witnessed or been directly affected by domestic abuse. This is done by one-to-one school support services through play and talking, facilitating the NSPCC DART (Domestic Abuse Recovering Together) programme, comprising 10 weekly two-hour sessions which encourages the mother and child to mend the bond that has sometimes been lost after suffering domestic abuse. We also run the Freedom programme for children, over eight weeks of one-hourly sessions, either one-to-one or in a group session. We run a regular support group for children to give them the opportunity to have a voice and connect with other children in the same situation as them, so that they don't feel so alone.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We will be providing a local support group in Newington Church from September 2019 so that our community members can meet and support one another. We also will be arranging a day out for the children and mums that we work with in the October half term to enable them to socialise.
