Cruse Bereavement Care Hertfordshire gives advice and support to any bereaved child, young person or adult in the county who has experienced the death of someone close to them. This is irrespective of the manner of the death or when it happened. Many of the people we help have been affected by a sudden and traumatic death, or have had to live with someone dying from a chronic condition. Our aim is to help normalise what people are experiencing by explaining how grief affects us, reduce their feelings of isolation and aloneness, and assist them in discovering ways in which they can rebuild their lives without their loved one.
Many bereaved children do not know any other young people dealing with a bereavement, so they can feel different to their peers and isolated in their grief. We bring them together, and give their parents a chance to share their experiences and help each other with their concerns. From feedback, we know that meeting other bereaved children is the aspect of the day that young people value the most.
