About this cause
Ashmore Park Community Association is a volunteer-run registered charity, which has been working for and with the community of Ashmore Park since 1996. It is responsible for the day-to-day running of The Hub – a multi-purpose community facility which includes meeting rooms, sports facilities, a café, and much more. Over the years we have supported the local area by putting on an array of events and hosting activities. Our buildings have become home to many different groups and agencies, running classes and courses in the heart of the community. In June 2017 we received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK, to recognise outstanding work done in their communities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By offering a wide range of subsidised activities, people who would not traditionally take part because of cost will have the opportunity to do so. This will encourage them to meet new people whilst learning new skills. The type of activities we are planning will also appeal to people who've perhaps not used our centre before, so they will meet other members of the community.
