About this cause
The organisation is the teachers friends and parents and community of Bretherton and it aims to improve the lives of the village community on the site of the school. It raises money for essential community and school items such as outdoor table tennis tables, computer hardware, playground markings, sports activities for the community and opportunities to enhance the lives of the young and old in Bretherton. The PTFA is trying to achieve an increase in physical fitness in children, pre-school and toddlers and older inhabitants of Bretherton, through the use of the school field as an available resource for the whole village. We are looking to be able to create a running track, as no such resources is in the village, only a recreational ground and the nearest sports area is 3+ miles away.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We will be able to offer competitive running opportunities within local schools, nurseries and toddler groups. We would also like to run a community Saturday run, similar to a park run as there are limited numbers close to the school. It will also enable us to provide dedicated retired people fitness and will offer a sports coach to facilitate this. It will provide inter village runs.
