We plan to develop a sensory garden for our pupils to enhance their learning and academic outcomes by stimulating their senses.

About this cause
We are a state maintained primary school with over 350 pupils. Our mission is to inspire, nurture and achieve excellence for our children. We are absolutely committed to providing a high quality, inclusive education for all of our pupils using a wide and rich range of learning experiences both inside and beyond the classroom. We provide a happy, caring and challenging environment where children recognise and achieve their full potential, developing a love for learning in an ever-changing world. We seek to nurture the ‘whole child’ for the time they are entrusted to us. We have a lot of children with additional needs who need extra support with their physical, emotional and behavioural needs, and we know that children learn best when they are stimulated, happy and feel secure.
How this cause brings people in the community together
As the largest school in the village, our sensory garden will be a key attraction on open days, school fair days and other events. Our pupils will use their learning (i.e. vegetable growing) to encourage local community enterprise outside of school. We will seek local volunteers to help with installation. Families attending breakfast and after-school clubs will engage in the sensory garden.
