Buckby Library & Hub

We would like to enhance the building, facilities and provision in the library to make it an inclusive social hub.
About this cause
Buckby Library and Hub is an initiative to save the local library in Long Buckby, which is under threat of closure by Northamptonshire County Council. A local community group has been formed and has gained Charitable Incorporated Organisation status, number 1185196, to take over the management of the library. Local amenities have not kept up with population growth in the area and the aim is to create a community managed library and hub. Buckby Library and Hub will extend the library’s social and educational purpose by enhancing the use of the building and gardens to develop an inclusive amenity for all members of the community, but particularly those in relative isolation. It will make connections with businesses, networks and help promote social and economic vibrancy in the area.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Collective action to save and enhance a vital asset for the village is bringing people together from across the community and building links with nearby villages. An inclusive social hub in Long Buckby will support the building of relationships and networks and promote community vibrancy, including with local businesses. The small library gardens will also provide spaces for people to meet.
