The role of the Friends of Steyning Grammar School is to engage in activities to support the school community and raise funds to provide equipment to enhance pupils' experiences. We also help to develop effective relationships between staff, parents and others. We run various activities through the year to achieve this, such as an annual winter fair, regular parent forums and second-hand uniform sales. We typically fund projects that would not be possible within the normal school budgets, such as replacing the sound system in the hall and installing mirrors in the dance studio. Steyning Grammar School is a large comprehensive school with more than 2,000 students drawn from a wide catchment area in West Sussex.
The drama hall is used regularly by the wider community, as well as by Steyning Grammar School students. For example, a local youth theatre group uses it every week. It hosts community events through the year, such as a concert of primary school choirs, author talks, exhibitions and shows. These activities provide an opportunity for people to benefit from and enjoy creative arts together.
