About this cause
This is a parent-led grassroots organisation to support pupils and families at two special schools in Lewisham, educating children with complex communication needs and multiple disabilities. Most of our children also have a diagnosis of autism. We raise funds to cover the costs of holiday clubs outside school time. We offer music, cooking, sensory play, crafts, sport, dance, dressing up as superheroes, and much more. Parents can have much needed down time and pay attention to overlooked siblings.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Children will make friends with pupils in other years and parents will socialise rather than minding their children. A group of children will have a memorable time accessing fresh air and enjoying activities in the seaside and countryside that they wouldn't otherwise be able to. Brothers and sisters will have their parents’ attention, which is usually focused on a disabled child.
