About this cause

Freshrb C.I.C. runs the Silent Elephant Project (SEP) which is designed to raise awareness of health themes and conditions through co-produced short film workshops. We currently work with schools, academies and communities in the north of Manchester, using these workshops to teach media skill, reduce loneliness and creatively build engagement with research in health. Off the back of our pilot SEP workshop to Year 10 students at the Co-op Academy North Manchester in 2019, the school has asked if we can run the same workshop in the next academic year. These workshops are geared towards improving a range of life skills that fall in line with priorities of the Gatsby Benchmarks. SEP also delivers an ASDAN-accredited short course for participants who take part in the workshop

How this cause brings people in the community together

This project will bring people together at every stage, from pre-production to post-production and beyond. After the post-production, multiple school and community screenings are held for the final production. We usually use the school's in-built cinema room to host screenings at Co-op Academy North Manchester and the Miners Community Arts and Music Centre cinema.
