Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust

We would like to add extra equipment to our new tractor, to move materials and tools around the canal, and to assist our volunteers.
About this cause
The Trust's aim is to restore the remaining 12.5 miles of abandoned and in-filled canal into a working canal connected to the existing Canal and River Trust network. The restoration will convert what is currently a grassed corridor into a linear water park, which will attract a wide selection of wildlife and provide the community with an attractive area for walking, cycling, jogging, water sports and fishing. This will create an area of wellbeing and calm.
How this cause brings people in the community together
This will improve the wellbeing of all, by providing a pleasant environment for people using the paths and towpaths. It will also encourage the local residents to adopt a section of the canal and create local pride in the area.
