About this cause
Finn's Place is a wellbeing centre which has been open for 6 years. We offer a weekly programme of activities and occasional events that enhance or improve wellbeing for our local community. Our activities range from gardening, yoga, pilates, mindfulness, creative writing, singing, massage etc. Finn's Place is open to all adults in the community and we have people who are in work, unemployed, retired, disabled and carers who attend our sessions. We are a wellbeing hub which is used by other local organisations and we work in partnership with other agencies who have specific clients - e.g. carers, those with mental ill health, adults with learning difficulties etc. Our goal is to be a welcoming space that is a place of wellbeing to the individual and the whole community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our Square Yard garden is in a high-density residential area of tenements, so residents have no personal garden space. The garden is open every Saturday for residents to grow organic fruit and vegetables. We have several community events in the garden throughout the year such as a summer BBQ and a harvest celebration at the end of the growing season. We regularly have singles and families attend.
