About this cause

Dads Rock uses play-based interventions to improve the lives and life chances of children under five, many of whom are at risk of marginalisation. This includes working in deprived areas to help dads, children and families in most need of support through free weekly playgroups; one-to-one support for vulnerable young dads; working in schools to help them become more dad-friendly and address gender stereotypes; and delivering antenatal and other parenting workshops. Each year Dads Rock supports 150 dads and 200 children who attend our playgroups and around 100 dads learn how to be better parents at our monthly workshops. We also provide a mentor to around 15 disadvantaged young dads (up to age 25), and offer support to over 1500 children in schools based in areas of deprivation.

How this cause brings people in the community together

A growing number of men are losing close friends within the first year of having a child, according to a new survey. Dads Rock playgroups help prevent this isolation as it provides a safe space to come together with other dads and their children. Not only do they make new friends, they also learn how to play with their children, and form strong relationships vital for their wellbeing.
