We carry out environmental projects with local communities and aim to help those on the fringes of society who are often excluded from mainstream activity. Our beneficiaries include people with physical and mental health problems, older and less able people, ethnic minorities, the young and those recovering from addiction. We base our main activities around local community food growing, improving habitats for wildlife, reducing waste, encouraging sustainable transport, reducing energy usage and raising environmental awareness.
There are already two local community environmental groups operating in the Clayton-le-Moors and Rishton area and we want to help increase membership of these so that people can have a say in improving their own neighbourhoods. We intend to develop a social media platform for easy interaction with different local groups and host pop-up events to engage more people and gather more ideas.
