About this cause

The Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer organisation providing a search and rescue service for people and animals in difficulty. We can operate anywhere in the UK, but we operate mainly on the North York Moors and in the communities of North East England and North Yorkshire. Our call outs range from people missing on the fell, or the local towns and villages, to people injured walking, biking, climbing and horse riding. We also assist the other emergency services with tricky evacuations and incidents. The team was established 54 years ago and is presently made up of about 40 local men and women from all walks of life. We are on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We offer a search and rescue service for incidents on both land and water, in urban areas, the countryside and the more wild high moorland. People in our local communities, and visitors to our area, are able to enjoy the countryside safe in the knowledge that, if they have an injury or illness, help is available.
