About this cause

A parish council is the authority closest to the people. They are invariably the first place people will go with concerns or ideas. For this reason they are a vital part of any community. Parish councils work with crime prevention, managing open spaces and campaigning for and delivering better services and facilities. It’s true to say that on their own, parish councils have limited powers to make decisions. But they do have the ability to negotiate with, and the power to influence, those other organisations that do make the final decisions (such as the borough council, health authorities, police etc).

How this cause brings people in the community together

Initially we will invite members of the community to help to clear the site by publishing a timetable and list of jobs to be completed. The school and the local Scouts will be encouraged to work on the site as part of their skills development. When completed the area will be a place for groups to meet for picnics, special events. It will also be a tranquil space for the public to use.
