Arts 4 Dementia
Pending display name
We will embed arts activities for people with dementia in established arts organisations through training, seed workshops and signposting.
About this cause
We will partner with a local arts organisation to co-fund an eight-week seed initiative of weekly workshops, led by an inspiring arts facilitator. We will train the facilitator in early-stage dementia awareness, along with the partnering arts organisation and other local facilitators who wish to attend. We will recruit local families living with dementia, working with the Alzheimer's Society, Age UK, local Dementia Action Alliance and other organisations. We will support the facilitator and organisation throughout the eight-week series and ensure that they are equipped to continue the workshops beyond A4D’s involvement, supporting them through publicity on our listings website, social media, and provision of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and networking sessions.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A4D's art workshop programmes target families with dementia still living in the community (rather than care homes), supporting their mental and physical health through interactive creative activities. This improves wellbeing for both carer and cared for. By engaging local arts organisations, these programmes create lasting links between established institutions and those living in the community.
