We provide day services to enable young people and adults with complex learning disabilities to acquire life skills and train for volunteering or supported employment. The charity has three operating sites, at Acomb, in Hexham, Wallsend and Coundon, supporting 167 clients with conditions ranging from Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Sotos and Fragile X and cerebral palsy. The charity also runs a number of social enterprises to benefit the local community, including the award-winning Hexham Station Kiosk, community kitchens, horticultural services and our local market stands.
We have clients from both rural and urban communities in the north east, many of whom experience significant isolation because of their disabilities. Our service enables clients to develop friendships, while learning life and employability skills. This project will hopefully attract more new clients to our centres, in addition to adding a new and healthy resource for our current clients.
