Big Hearts Community Trust is a family-focused charity based at Tynecastle Park, the home of Heart of Midlothian Football Club. We use the power and reach of football to create social change and change lives. We are committed to making a difference in our community of South West Edinburgh, and improving the lives of those who are most at risk of social isolation. Over the next three years, we will focus our work on five key areas of need: kinship care families, isolated older people, the black and minority ethnic community, families living in poverty and individuals experiencing mental ill-health. Underpinning all of our work and adding significant capacity to our organisation, are our Big Hearts Supporters, a group of fans giving their time to volunteer in the local community.
Through promotion and through charitable or statutory partners, we seek to reach those who would tend not to engage in social activity. This includes older people living on their own, those with a dementia diagnosis and those living in a care setting. We bring people together using memories and each session is set up to encourage the sharing of stories and building of friendships.
