Our church centre provides space for a varied range of community activities, including Over-60s Indian dance classes, Brownies, a yoga group for mothers and babies, Arabic classes, karate and much more. We provide accommodation for the homeless in the winter months, as part of the Floating Shelter programme. Last summer we introduced our Holiday Lunch club for children and families. Our new project is a support group for refugees housed in a local short-term hotel accommodation while their applications are being processed. We offer access to computers, English language support, clothing and an opportunity for families to cook traditional meals, as well as enjoy companionship. We desperately need to improve our kitchen facilities to support this particular aspect of our work.
Our church centre is a Designated Emergency Centre. It is for the community to use, to come together to enjoy fellowship with others. Our refugee project enables our service users to prepare traditional family meals from their culture. Our homeless project involves a hot meal and breakfast in November and December, while our Holiday Lunch Club for children has been running for a year.
