We work with young people and their families who are at risk of social exclusion due to disability, mental health issues, or if they are housed in temporary or emergency accommodation. We aim to help them re-engage with the community, giving them the tools to be the best they can be. We provide a safe space for communities to come together, hosting events such as the Great Get Together, acting as a community compost drop off point, and offering flexible stress-free volunteer hours within our garden. We partner with local projects such as Dig for Devonport and the Friends of Devonport Park. Our aim is to develop mental and physical health and community spirit through activities such as gardening, forest schools, cookery, imagination, drama, adventurous activities and play.
Events and activities will allow us to bring together diverse groups of people within the community. Many of the families are isolated due to poverty, disability, age or mental health. Activities will provide a safe welcoming environment. Our staff and volunteers, who have experience of the issues faced by our communities, will facilitate development of friendships and new social networks.
