About this cause

The Tice's Meadow Bird Group are a community-lead group of volunteers who help manage Tice's Meadow Nature Reserve in Surrey. Our goals include managing and improving the nature reserve for the benefit of both the wildlife and local residents, who we encourage to connect with the nature on their doorsteps. Our volunteers are all drawn from the local community, and benefit both physically and mentally from working outdoors to help improve a much loved community asset. We have forged close ties with local schools, youth groups, conservation groups and the Bells Piece residential home for adults with learning difficulties, and have managed to create a real community-lead team of all ages and experiences.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The project will be delivered by our team of community volunteers and will give them a major project to concentrate on and rally around to complete, fostering a strong team ethic. Whenever we complete a major project on site, we always attract new volunteers and receive lots of positive feedback about the experience of helping to make a difference to the local area.
