Bishop Creighton House has been a small community-focused charity with a big impact for over 100 years. Our network of 225 active and dedicated volunteers help disabled, older people, and low-income families with children under five live safe, healthy and independent lives. With 24,000 visits a year, our community centre is always busy. We also help older people who are isolated or have had a fall, providing daily checks, advocacy and help with mobility and community rehabilitation. We help people with learning disabilities to gain in confidence and develop skills, we help people with physical disabilities have major adaptations in their home, and help low-income families with children under five access home safety services.
Our project will bring together 250 older people with 80 community volunteers and local professionals. We aim to reduce the loneliness and isolation of older people through volunteer daily safety calls, as well as holding a series of fun and informative lunches, providing transport as many are housebound. We will include talks and visits from professionals.
