About this cause

The Friends of Five Acre Wood School is the charitable fundraising body of Five Acre Wood School, which was rated "outstanding" by Ofsted in April 2019. It is a Special Educational Needs and Disability school for over 450 students, aged three to 19, with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder. The Friends' objective is to advance the education of pupils by engaging in activities or providing equipment that are not statutorily funded, which support the school and advance the education and wellbeing of the pupils. In order to do this, it develops effective relationships between the school and the local community, including fostering excellent partnerships with businesses, organisations, charitable trusts and other schools.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We have already brought together over 100 volunteers from local organisations in the community to construct the yard, paddock, stable, hay barn and tack room. We are seeking volunteers from within our school and wider community to assist with the management of the yard, particularly at weekends and during holidays.
