About this cause
The vision of Treverbyn Community Hall is to create a wild space for all to enjoy and connect with nature. By running regular volunteering sessions on the green space and in the community garden, we are able to engage people from all walks of life and challenge cultural barriers. By providing a space for safe, outdoor volunteering activities we are helping to improve people's health and wellbeing. Indeed, other local organisations and agencies are now referring their clients, including those with learning difficulties or mental illness. Last year, 63 volunteers gave 450 hours of their working hard under the guidance of a sessional worker to improve a piece of land which has been gifted to the local community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
These weekly sessions are a catalyst for bringing people together from diverse backgrounds to share a common goal and work together. Providing these for free enables carers and those cared for to participate alongside each other, reaping the physical and mental benefits that comes from being active outside in the natural environment.
