Our aim is to provide activities for local older people attending the Together @ Clifton Club.
About this cause
The Wainman Trust runs the Together @ Clifton Club. It is a place for local older people, including those with early-stage dementia, to meet, share a healthy meal, and take part in activities and outings. Members’ ages currently range between 74 and 95, and 92% of members have physical/mental disabilities. The club combats loneliness and promotes improved health and wellbeing, both physical and mental. Members learn new skills, and are able to remain independent for longer, enjoying a better quality of life. The club runs every Wednesday from 10am until 3pm. In 2018, we provided 1,615 member sessions for 43 individuals, 502 hours of respite for the family/carers of four of our members, and opportunities for eight volunteers, who contributed 764 voluntary hours.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The club brings together local older people, supported by our volunteers and staff. Members benefit from activities through improved physical and mental health, which helps to ward off illness and injury, improving their quality of life. The social interaction of activities benefits members' mental health and helps to combat loneliness. Members gain new skills during activity sessions.
