About this cause
Worcester Snoezelen provides multi-sensory leisure therapy for people with disabilities and additional needs. The centre has 4 sensory rooms, a hydro-therapy pool, a soft play zone, art and music departments, and a sensory garden. Our objectives are to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to have accessible and meaningful recreational activities which promote their mental health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, decrease challenging behaviours and bring joy into the lives of society’s most vulnerable members. The inclusive and specialised activities offered by the charity promote many benefits including physical and mental health, education through experiential learning and social engagement.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Families with disabled children and those with additional needs have few opportunities to socialise and make friendships. At Snoezelen, everyone is welcome and accepted; siblings without disabilities come along too. Families tell us their visits reduce challenging behaviours, increase confidence and their children find a place to express themselves and have their needs understood.
