We aim to ensure that disabled children and young people are supported, optimising their physical and emotional wellbeing by having fun.
About this cause
Our organisation aims to deliver a scheme for all, bringing able-bodied teenage volunteers and disabled or disadvantaged young people together to work and play, sharing experiences to the benefit of all. A small charity doing big things, Pegasus is unique in the Dover District.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project runs each summer with a small team of adult volunteers, a paid co-ordinator and 12 paid group leaders. The ambitious programme of activities could not be delivered without the additional support provided by our young volunteers – the able-bodied teenagers who provide one to one support for each of the disabled young people. Coincidentally, this also provides a period of respite.
