About this cause

Listening Ear's Butterflies project is an activity-based therapy service for young people, aged four to 15 years, who have experienced bereavement, separation or loss. We work with children and young people who are living with the trauma of sometimes complex issues, which can include murder, manslaughter, divorce, separation, domestic abuse and a parent in prison. We draw on our knowledge of different forms of counselling and translate this into an age-appropriate service, and also provide a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited counselling service for young people aged 16 to 19 years. We rely on donations from supporters to ensure our services are available to those who need them, when they need them.

How this cause brings people in the community together

We provide group therapy sessions that bring together isolated children and young people, creating a sense that they are not alone in coping with bereavement, loss or separation. We work with families and schools to ensure children are supported in dealing with the issues that are affecting them. We have a strong sense of being part of our community in Whiston.
