Woodlands Speaks is a community-based charity operating in the Woodlands and Adwick district. We support the whole community through the operation and management of the local library and a Well-being Hub. We support elderly residents with various activities, such as exercise classes, a coffee morning club, and a walking club for members of all ages. We deliver youth activities and provide employment support and skills training. We are also providing the opportunity for 1-1 Well-being therapy sessions and wish to extend this offer to more residents in the community. Our overall aim is to support the welfare and growth of the whole local community by improving quality of life.
People will support each other in our workshops, gain friendships and benefit from other social connections. People will feel more self-confident and be more able to progress their aspirations, share experiences and consider peer support initiatives as a route into volunteering. As a spin-off, the project will also look to develop wellbeing and resilience community champions.
