About this cause
We are a drop-in play café aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation in the parents of pre-schoolers. We are now operating 5 days a week 09.30 - 2.30. We offer a drop-in service whereby parents can come as and when they need to without pre-booking or scheduled time slots (IE. around the chaos that is parenting,) and be welcomed into a safe and friendly environment. We have a BIG focus on peer support and building a community of parents and carers in a non-judgemental atmosphere. We are trying to raise awareness of perinatal mental health issues and the impact that isolation has on them. We offer a real variety of activities for the little ones, with messy play, themed role play, crafts and interactive song times and storytelling.
How this cause brings people in the community together
By providing for newborn babies in the café, we are encouraging mums to reach out to the community in these vital weeks. Post-birth is obviously the most tumultuous time for a parent and often the time when parents can feel most alone. As a drop-in café we have no structured times so parents can drop in around baby's schedule and come for a chat and a cuppa with other parents.
