Our service to the community provides an alternative intervention and support to children and young people suffering from poor mental health. Our provisions seek to improve self-esteem, enhance social skills, relieve anxiety, decrease depression, improve relationships and reintegrate with the community. We like to host activities in tandem with the local community, multi-agencies, schools, colleges such as interaction with animals on local farms, horse riding, nature walks, forestry skills and horticulture. We also serve the elderly community, with our ponies visiting care and residential homes, helping to increase happiness, sociability and wellbeing.
The new play area, sensory garden and sensory room will enhance our facilities and better the provisions we can provide to help mental health and wellbeing. Children and young people who have struggled with social skills and social isolation, can start to build communication skills with the support of Hugs staff, and begin to engage with others and reintegrate back into the community.
