About this cause

Victims First Northumbria is an independent charity operating across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. Our main priority is to provide essential support to victims following a crime, with the aim of helping them cope, recover and move on in a positive way. The support we provide is bespoke to each victim and carried out by our team of specially trained care co-ordinators and volunteers, who provide emotional and practical support. This extends to support through associated court processes and access to and facilitation of restorative justice, helping victims to overcome the impact of crime.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The recruiting of a part-time worker will allow for a visible and local point of contact, encouraging conversations and raising awareness of modern day slavery, in turn reducing social isolation, fear and low confidence in communities across the area, and building community resilience. It will also enable conversations to take place in communities and schools about all crime types.
