We want to raise funds for our 127th Annual Show in 2020, a unique event that brings the whole community together, young and old.
About this cause
Founded in 1884, the Society holds an Annual Show in South Bucks, which predates the Chelsea Flower Show. This is a unique community event involving all ages. It provides a lecture programme and visits to places of interest to members. One of the aims of the Society is to pass on knowledge and pleasure derived from gardening to the next generation. This is exemplified in the work we do with the three primary schools in our parishes; each now has active and established gardening, as demonstrated by the impressive Schools Display at the Show. This can be life changing for the children - gardening can also be life changing for older people. The Society has awards for best allotments, front gardens, and most colourful local pub, in addition to the prizes and cups awarded at the Show.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our Show brings people of all ages together, enhancing the community and inspiring children and young people, open competition in flowers, plants, vegetables, home economics, wine, crafts, art and photography; a large junior section with free entry, a rosette for all; there is a live band, a display of classic cars, cream teas, barbeque, Pimms and beer tent, 34 varied stalls, a Bouncy Castle.
