About this cause
Stretford Children's Theatre provides regular affordable, high quality weekly drama sessions for local children/young people, aged 4-16, with a focus on access for all, including otherwise marginalised individuals & groups. Our objectives are to: • increase confidence, resilience, independence for participants • develop aspirational thinking • develop soft skills to enhance employability • provide fun, creative opportunities • support mental and emotional health and well-being • encourage self-development through participation • explore subjects that matter to participants • build lasting partnerships with local voluntary/statutory/private organisations & residents to create a desirable neighbourhood • encourage local children/young people’s connection to their community.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Young people come together: across different schools, social-economic backgrounds, ethnicities & faiths; paid professional practitioners & volunteers: work together, & voluntary Trustees meet bi-monthly; audiences for 2 productions: friends and family, & general local community. Productions offer sense of purpose, & build confidence; & offer wider community positive view of local young people.
