Austerfield Study Centre and Community Hub
Young People
We want to purchase two large wooden gazebos to provide shelter so that we can get children involved in outdoor activities all year round.
About this cause
The Centre provides a safe, fun, hands-on learning environment for groups of toddler age up to 12, and also a meeting place for children, vulnerable young people and adults. As a community centre we host meetings, parties, training courses, arts and fitness classes. Many of our groups come for residential visits and enjoy our wonderful outdoor facilities. For the past five years we have provided one of the region's few outdoor learning centres for schools and community groups. Our team of volunteers and four paid staff ensure that we provide a unique experience allowing children to connect with nature and appreciate our world. Our fundraising efforts have helped us to continuously improve our facilities whilst keeping costs low so that we are attractive, welcoming and accessible to all.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Funding for the whole project requires our team to plan some sponsorship or fund raising event which will involve the local community's support. As these gazebos arrive flat-packed, we will also need volunteers and tools to assist in constructing them. Once erected they will provide our users with an under-cover pond-dipping platform and a shady picnic area or outdoor classroom for smaller groups.
