About this cause
We are a local registered not for profit charity supporting unpaid carers of disabled children, young people, adults and isolated older people providing practical, emotional information and advice to unpaid carers (and their families) in the London borough of Bexley, Greenwich & Lewisham The charity has been operating in the borough for the last 28 years and was set up to give unpaid carers a break for a few hours a week to have some ‘timeout’ to themselves and recharge their batteries. Caring for someone 24/7 can have an adverse effect on people’s mental health and well-being. Our service is provided by community based staff and volunteers who support unpaid Carers within their own home or on community based activities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We are well-connected strategically across our operating boroughs and have good relationships with partner organisations. This yields a close relationship between older people and our organisation that generates a wealth of opportunity to develop services and support to meet the needs of older people who may be experiencing isolation or loneliness.
