We want to make improvements and repairs to the Salterton Playhouse, to make it more comfortable for performers and audience members.
About this cause
We are a local drama club putting on 4 productions a year for the local community. The group is an important part of the community and helps provide a place for people to socialise and entertain, supporting people through bereavement, loneliness, illness as well as bringing the community together. We are in the process of trying to improve our playhouse to make it more comfortable for our patrols as it is currently too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. We have had audience members having to leave due to the discomfort. We have plans to install air conditioning, as well as insulate the building. On top of this we hope to repair the timber exterior and install new fire doors. Overall this will make us more energy efficient and prolong the life of the building.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We have an active membership covering all age groups who take part in all matters involved with producing plays. In addition, we have links with local WI and Mother's Union organisations who regularly attend plays as a group.
