About this cause

Run entirely by unpaid volunteers, the Museum exists to provide visitors a glimpse of automotive history, with its wide selection of cars, rare motorcycles, scale models, photographs and other motoring memorabilia. It is particularly appealing to older members of the community and attracts visits from local care homes. Some exhibits have been restored in house and we encourage anyone who might like to get involved with this. The Museum is used as a focal point for visiting car clubs and is used by local charities when sponsoring a motoring event eg Drive It Day. Whenever possible, exhibits are supplied to support local fetes, carnivals and other events where motoring history is a theme. The Museum's annual show, attracts vehicles to Calne, which residents might otherwise not see.

How this cause brings people in the community together

With the improved facilities, we hope to be able to attract visits from local schools, youth groups or clubs, to provide an experience which is both fun and educational. We would hope that by coming along to the Museum, older children might eventually become actively involved as future volunteers, albeit we recognise that until they reach the age of 18, close supervision would be essential.
