About the Project

The Huskar Rooms, located behind the Co-op in Silkstone, offer a variety of classes and activities such as Brownies, Scouts, dance classes, exercise groups, craft club, mothers and toddlers groups and community information meetings. The Centre provides a valuable meeting place for like minded people of all ages, for local residents and those from the surrounding areas as well as further afield.

About the Charity

Silkstone Community Centre was formed to raise funds to build a Community Centre. It was opened in 2015. The Mission for the Centre is to provide facilities for use by the whole community for recreation and education activities. To work in partnership with and support voluntary and community groups and local residents in a common effort to deliver activities that advance education, promote social inclusion and community cohesion. To identified by the local communities in the interests of social welfare, recreation and leisure with the object of improving the health and social wellbeing of the communities of the Parish of Silkstone and the surrounding areas. Groups now using the Centre include brownies, guides, scouts, dance school, craft club, fitness groups and discussion groups.
