About the Project
The safety board will allow boating to continue for all of our Scout group, which brings young people and their parents together - often outside of their usual social/school groups. The facilities are also used by Sailability and Help for Heroes thus supporting other groups in the community in accessing facilities that would otherwise be unavailable to them.
About the Charity
At our Testwood Lakes headquarters we provide kayaking, sailing, rowing and raft building for our Scout Group and Sailability who also use our facility. We have approximately 140 Young people in our group all from the local community. We encourage our young people to learn new skills such as leadership, problem solving, team work and community responsibility to support them in becoming valuable members of society as they become young adults. Sailability use our resources to provide sailing for the physically disabled, as do Help for Heroes. We feel that our aquatic centre provides our young people to access opportunities which would otherwise not be available to them, whilst also providing a much needed resource to disabled groups in the local area.
